Apple Pan Dowdy
Ingredients: 4 cups apples (sliced) 1 cup brown sugar 1/4 tsp.salt 1/4cup flour 1 tbsp.vinegar 3/4-1 cup of water 1 tsp. vanilla 1 tbsp. butter
Topping 1 cup flour 3/4 cup milk 2 tsp.baking powder 3 tbsp.shortening 1 tsp.salt
Place apples in greased pan, In a pot mix sugar,flour and salt.Then add vinegar and water,stirring well.Cook over low heat until thickened, stirring constantly.Remove from heat. Cool.Add vanilla and butter.Pour over apples.
Topping: Rub shortening into flour,salt,baking powder and milk.Drop by spoonfulls over the apples.Bake 3/4 hr. at 350.
