Hot Cabbage and Apple Slaw
1 medium head of cabbage (red or green), sliced thin 2 Granny Smith Apples, chopped into 1" pieces 1/4 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup white vinegar 1/4 cup water 1/4 tsp Caraway seed (optional)
Into a large skillet, mix brown sugar, white vinegar, caraway (if desired) and water. Bring to a boil and simmer until sugar melts. Add apples and cabbage and return to boil. Cover and simmer slowly until cabbage is done the way you like - stir occasionally. Approx. 15 minutes for crispy and 30 mins for tender. Wonderful with pork!
